Brio Set Unites Generations

Relatives gathered together to celebrate the life of Naomi Wylie Kent.  My sons Alex and Michael met their cousins for the first time.  Four year old  Cousin Ben enjoyed playing with his Brio Train Set on the floor of his Grandma Nancy's home.  Michael also had a fascination with trains at his age.  Thomas the Tank Engine was popular when he was a child.  Thomas is still captivating children with his stories of trains becoming real life characters.  Michael and Ben shared a common interest of connecting wooden tracks to form large circular shapes so the little wooden trains have an exciting adventure as they travel over bridges.  Beep, Beep, watch out for the cow on the track.  They made instant friends as they shared a love for creating an imaginary town.

Fragile Feather On Windowpane

We've had four days of school being canceled in Dallas, Texas.  I've enjoyed blogging, and writing.  As I sit on my computer I can look out my window to see leaves of trees holding snow on their branches.  All day I have watched a tiny gray feather flapping on my windowpane.  I keep thinking it will fly away but it's still there.  I noticed it around 9:00 in the morning.  It's still there when I checked at dusk.  Is it a reminder not to give up on my children's book, "Ducks In My Pool?"  A family of ducks have been visiting my pool for over ten years so I wrote a story about it.  Is it a reminder how fragile life can be but He is there holding us in His Hands?  Our wills are so strong to want to go our own way.  Why is it so hard to just let go and let Him guide us?  I took a video and picture of the small fragile feather to share with others.  If you click the photo you can see the feather up-close.

Happy 21st Birthday Alex and Happy Chinese New Year

Alex, my son, turns twenty one today, February 3rd.  The years have gone by so quickly.  I remember how blessed I felt the first time I saw his wonderful face.  I thought what a gift from God.  He has grown to be a mature young man attending a University and majoring in Economics and Business.  I am grateful he has found something he is interested in.

He has always loved telling stories and listening to them.  One day he came home from Pre-School and I asked him what he had learned?  He told me a five minute story the Preschool teacher had read that day.  It was almost like he was reading it from a book.  I started reading to him in the womb because I read newborns can recognize your voice.  The minute he was born we made eye contact and I felt he knew me.  We had a game we played about making up stories and his was always very creative.

May Alex's story be an interesting one on this journey of life.  I also want to say Happy Chinese New Year to all who celebrate!!!Happy New Year and Happy Birthday!!

Without Electricity Or Power

Texas is part of the vast 2000 mile radius of winter snow and ice.  I had a snow day so it was fun staying at home.  While I was home the electricity went out over the period of the day to conserve energy.  The fifteen minutes the electricity was off seemed like hours.  I thought just a hundred years ago people lived without electricity and were just fine.  I realized how dependent I am on the need to turn on the light so my rooms are bright and cozy.  I take for granted how easy it is to heat up soup in the microwave.  My laptop was charged so I tried to use it while the electricity was off.  Then I realized it didn't work because the router hooked up to the main computer was not charged.  I thought am I charged to Jesus my source?  Am I depending on scripture today?  Am I using this time to think about Him my source.  John 15:5  I am the Vine: you are the branches.  Whoever lives in Me and I in him bears much (abundant) fruit.  However, apart from Me (cut off from vital union with me) you can do nothing.
