Joseph Topping Singer-Songwriter Multi Instrumentalist

  My husband and I discovered the talent of Joseph Topping playing at the Royal Oak in Edinburgh, Scotland.  There was a special concert at the lower level filled with fans wanting to hear his magical chords.

  He wrote many of his songs along with Scottish ballads that tell a story.  Joe is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist .  He has one of the most beautiful voices I have ever heard.

  As a young boy he was surrounded by music.  His dad Tom ran a folk club and showcased blues musicians such as Blind Jessie Fuller. Perhaps that is what inspired him to take a 1,400 mile solo walk across America.

  He had an old Gibson guitar strapped to his back and walked from Chicago to his final destination of New Orleans, the land of Jazz.  On his journey he traveled through St. Louis, Nashville, Memphis, the Mississippi Delta, and Baton Rouge.  Sometimes he found rest in the cornfields or patches of cotton.

  Joseph met musicians and characters along the road which inspired the lyrics to many of his songs in his album called, Ghosts In The Shadows.  His gift of story telling reminds me of the legend, Bob Dylan.

 After three pairs of shoes he finally made it to Louisiana with a desire to benefit story tellers and musicians in the Jazz community  He achieved awareness and funds for New Orleans musicians displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

 After his trek to America he accepted the invitation to join the band Elbow Jane.  They have played the main stages of many British folk festivals.

Ghosts In The Shadows  is a must have album to be inspired.

Sword of the Spirit

For the word of God is alive and active.  Sharper than any double edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.

Hebrews 4:12

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.
Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
And pray  in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests.  With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord's people.

William and Kate Have A Royal Baby Boy

Congratulations William and Kate, It's A Boy!!!!  The royal baby weighed eight pounds and six ounces of joy.  Prince William did not leave Kate's side while delivering their new baby boy.  It's the beginning of the new royal family.  He was born July 22nd at 4:24 p.m.  William had been born in the same hospital in 1982 as Diana first saw her precious son.

The child is now third in line to the British throne.  He will become Supreme Governor of the Church of England.  The infant is a living link to Britain's history.

Kate has eased into royal life to become more comfortable in the spotlight.  She played a supporting role during Queen Elizabeth II's Diamond Jubilee celebrations last summer.

Her first months of pregnancy were not easy because she had horrible morning sickness which left her weak and dehydrated.

She took excellent care of herself and recovered well.  She made public appearances up until the final weeks of giving birth.

William and Kate plan to raise their precious baby boy in the renovated quarters at Kensington Palace where Will spent much of his childhood.

Kate's desire is to give her child a normal upbringing just as Diana wanted to give William the pleasures of childhood.  William supports his wife with love and devotion as they are so happy they have a new baby to adore.

The world cares about William and Kate because it's a celebration of family, love and royal history.  Families are the cornerstone of our societies and human race.  A new birth is a symbol of hope and a new beginning.  It assures generations are to follow in our family name and tree.  It doesn't matter what nationality you come from, families are the foundation of who we are and where we are going.

Bread of Life

I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven, but it is my Father who gives you the true bread from heaven.  For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.

"I am the bread of life.  He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty.  But I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe.  All the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never drive away.  For I have come down from heaven not to do my will but to do the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day.  For my Father's will is that everyone who looks to the Son and believes in him shall have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day."

Adding Labels to Blogspot is easy and effective.

Adding labels to blogspot is easy and effective. Blogger is Google's  wonderfully free publishing website.  The purpose of labels is to categorize and organize individual posts.   As I was adding my labels I thought wow I have been writing a lot of information over the years.  Now my viewers can see my topics easily and see what is interesting to them.   It was going down memory lane to add labels to each post.  If you haven't done so let me show you how easy it is.

How to add labels:
When you click on the "New Post" button on your Blogger dashboard, you will see a page.  To the far right hand side of the page it says LABELS at the top.  CLICK ON LABELS and a TEXT BOX will appear. This is where you type in your labels.  You can pick more than one and separate by commas.  Be sure to hit DONE at the bottom UPDATE at the top to save what you typed.  You can type a single word or phrases as long as you separate with a comma.  Its kinda fun to think about what is the so what or main idea  about your topic.

Here is the tricky part I didn't really understand before.

If you did not put labels on old posts that is okay.  You can hit the design button and it will show all of your  previous posts.  Just hit posts on left hand side of screen.  You can click on your old posts and hit LABELS to the  right side.  This is when you type in your labels just like you did with your new post.  The labels will show up i promise you.  It's like blogspot magic.  Think of tinkerbell and fairy dust.

How DO THEY SHOW ON Your Blog:
Here is the other tricky part but it turned our to be sooo easy when I found the Gadget.
Decide where you want to place your labels.  Click on LAYOUT on the left hand side of design page. It will give you several options to place your labels.

Labels is a choice in your list of Gadget Choices  I didn't realize because I didn't scroll down far enough but it is there.  

Click on Labels Gadget

For me i picked the choice of showing ALL LABELS because why not show your hard work of writing topics.

You have two choices Alphabetically or By Frequency.  I picked Alphabetically to be more mysterious.

Other Two Choices List   or Cloud    I picked list.

Very Important final part   Hit or click   SAVE

I hope this helps anyone out there that was struggling with labels like me.   I feel like it has opened up a new venue of people finding a topic they care about.

Momma Duck Is Back

The ducks are back. For over ten years a family of ducks chose our backyard as a safe place to make their nest. The first year I discovered twelve white eggs formed in a circle shape of love. I later noticed Momma Duck was dutifully keeping her eggs warm for twenty eight days. She stayed on her eggs through Texas Hail Storms and heavy rains. I grew to admire her determination to keep her eggs safe. Each year the ducklings hatched. My family enjoyed watching the ducklings swim and glide in our pool. They usually stayed for one or two days and left for the creek a half mile from our home. Last year I had just bought my first digital camera so I was determined to get a good picture. At first the ducks were shy. I pretended to be a statue and not make sudden movements. They got use to me over time. Momma and Daddy Duck seem to pose for the camera. I wrote a children's book to capture the week the ducklings stayed and left for the creek. Michael, my youngest was there when the ducklings left. He took pictures too. My youngest was leaving the nest for college. Watching the ducklings leave reminded me there is always the right time to leave the comfortable nest for new adventures.
"He who dwells in the shelter of the most high will rest in the shadow of the Almighty."  What does it mean to dwell in the shelter of God?

The Vine and The Branches

I am the vine and my father is the gardener.  He cuts off every branch in me that bears not fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes to that it will be even more fruitful.  You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.  Remain in me, and I will remain in you.  No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine.  Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
I am the vine; you are the branches.  If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit, apart from me you can do nothing.  If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you.  This is to my Father's glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.

As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you.  Now remain in my love.  If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in his love.  I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.  My command is this:
Love each other as I have loved you.
Greater love has no one than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.
You are my friends if you do what I command.  
I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business.
Instead I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.
You did not choose me, 
but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit.

Fruit that will last.  Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name.

Weatherford Peach Festival A Little Slice of Texas Culture 2013

Each year the quaint town of Weatherford  brings together a Peach Festival to celebrate the season's crop.
Texans will have any excuse to have a festival but what a great way show to off the Weatherford's Farmers Market full of ripe peaches that are so sweet and juicy you think it is candy.  My mom couldn't go with me this year but I brought her a basket of peaches so she can make her delicious peach pie.

We tasted the most delicious homemade peach ice cream I think I've ever had.  Maybe its because it tasted so refreshing on a sizzling Texas Day of over a hundred degrees.

The local Methodist Church makes the ice cream and peach cobbler as a fund raiser for missions all over the world.
This sweet man reminded me of my father because he loved the Methodist Church.  He is volunteering his time to make delicious Texas fajitas  with grilled onions for the public to enjoy.  
It was a community spirit as this nice man helped to direct traffic.  They even had shuttles to  transport you to your car after walking to see all of the booths.
.  There were over two hundred vendors selling their goods.  I bought a handmade straw hat to protect me from the Texas rays.
It takes several hours just to set up your booth.  It was amazing the vast array of artist talent.  I bought a beautiful handmade leather case for my glasses from the leather booth.

You can't be in Texas without buying some turquoise jewelry.  This lady displays her sets of earrings and matching necklace with flare.  She goes to several festivals in Texas and many customers return to her booth because of her unique style and reasonable prices.  
This fellow sold delicious salsas and jellies along with his son.  He makes up his own recipes to sell.  It reminded me of the American spirit of small businesses working hard to make a living but showing their creativity in each product.
The Peach Festival in Weatherford is a little slice of Texas Culture.  The tradition of the courthouse is a reminder of the families who settled in Texas to start a new life.  Texas is full of hard working people who want to make a living by using their talents.  
Parker County shows a piece of  American values each summer in July.   .

Whispers In The Rain

There are whispers in the July rain today in Texas.  It is a weather miracle to have showers of rain and low temperatures.   Each drop is saying I love you, I care for you, I want what is best for you.

God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit join with one voice.  I am the living God.  There is no other God before me.  I came to bring life abundantly.

Stay close to the source of love, Jesus.  He is on the throne of God interceding for us.  He bridges the gap between the holiness of God and the sins of man.
We have everlasting life through our faith in Jesus.  Cling to, rely upon, trust in Jesus.

Happy Birthday USA and Me at Farmers Branch Red White and Blue

I was almost a July 4th Birthday.  My mom tells the story the doctor wanted to go to a 4th of July Party so he induced labor.  I was born thirty minutes before the 4th at 11:30.  But July 3rd is okay with me because now I can celebrate United States birthday for two days.  

Malia Obama is blessed because her birthday is July 4th.  I'm sure the President is proud of his lovely daughter and the fact her birthday is also Independence Day.  

 Farmers Branch Historical Park opens their doors at 6:30 to the public so all can enjoy food, a tour of the interesting  historical homes, concert music of your favorite tunes, and the grand finally fireworks display with patriotic music.

Our family has been going for several years because I get to choose what we do.  It's my birthday.

Groove Night played tunes young and old could enjoy.  It was a community of toe stomping vibrations as we heard Born IN The USA.  
It made me proud to be an American as I saw strong faces dressed in red white and blue.  Families and friends were together to celebrate our Nation's 237th Birthday.  We all felt so blessed to be in a country where we are free and democratic.  As I check the CNN page and see Egypt's turmoil it makes me thankful we can assemble peacefully to celebrate a common cause.  We love our country and want it to remain strong.
The Declaration of Independence was signed in congress July 4, 1776.  The unanimous Declaration of the thirteen united States of America says,

When in the course of human evens, it becomes necessary of one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mandkind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

As Independence Day Celebrations occur all over our great nation,
and the colors of firework displays reflect our souls.  Let us pray for our President.  Let us pray for our children.  Let us pray our country can remain free with liberty and justice for all.  Let us pray our children can have the same country we have held dear to our hearts.

An Unexpected Visitor An Owl

I was sitting alone in our family room when I heard some noise.  I thought someone might have been knocking at our door.  I looked up and an owl was flying through the air trying to escape.  It landed on our French Drapes just peering at me.  I thought how do I get this owl out of our home without injuring the owl or me ?  It happened once before about ten years earlier and it was a family affair to get the bird out.

 This time my husband wasn't available to save me because he was busy working.  Next the owl flew across our room and perched on a painting just staring at me like what do I do?  His golden eyes followed my every move.  I called my two sons and said please bring friends to help me.  Of course I was screaming in the phone and I could hear them laughing.

"We'll be there Mom as soon as we can.  We'll bring help.  Calm down, it'll be okay."

  I remembered  about ten years before we took a towel  and wrapped the owl like a blanket so the talons didn't hurt anyone.

All of a sudden the owl flew to our crystal chandelier.  It looked so cute waving from side to side as the light swayed with the unexpected weight.  I decided to call my neighbor for support.  Jos came over right away and evaluated the situation.  She took a eucalyptus branch from an arrangement and swatted the owl gently saying, "Shooooo."  I opened the door and just as the owl was flying out five young men were coming down the path to my  rescue.  It was perfect timing because they got to see the owl fly away safely.

Are owls a sign that there is a change about to come.  Does God send animals to tell us something? It felt there was a message.  This time a friend helped me in time of need.  Friends are an important  part of life.  They help us in unexpected moments.
